Trash to Robots
Thanks to Between Naps On The Porch for hosting Metamorphosis Monday.
Two little boys we know are having a joint birthday party with a robot theme and I thought I would decorate canisters with robots as part of their gifts. I’ve kept these large Trader Joe’s coffee cylinders because it seemed they could be repurposed as storage containers.

TJ's coffee containers

I used foil to give the containers a mechanistic feel.

Foil covered containers edged with green and white striped ribbon.

I love these Dollar Tree stickers! I could imagine them selling at a high-end children's boutique.

Container with sticker

I punched out circles and stars, stamped and embossed each boy's name in silver and then used foam tape to give each star some height.

The "back" side of the containers.

The lids of the containers- I wanted them to resemble cogs.

I am on the lookout for a robot toy or t-shirt to put in each container.
I saw these stickers a few weeks ago and knew they would be great for a gift. It felt good to recycle these canisters, which I normally throw away. I’ll keep canisters in the future because they were easy to craft with and an excellent size for toy or office storage.
Have a happy and creative week!
Great project! I save my TJs coffee containers too cause I just know I can use them for something…..but haven’t yet! Thanks for a great idea
How cute! What a great idea. This makes me wish I had a birthday party to throw.

How cute. I love the decorations. Hugs, Marty
Oh my gosh! Those are awesome!! You could get plain t’s from the craft store and print out a robot onto transfer paper and make your own!

You make us all look bad! And I can’t find the picture of the purse.
I’m sick…bummer and the weekend before my b-day. By the way, a friend is having a little get together for me. Send me your email address so that I can give it to her.

What a great theme. I hope the party turns out great!
What a nifty idea! I’m going to think twice before throwing any cannisters away. They make great gift containers.
Thanks for visiting me and taking the time to leave the kind comment.
Happy Thrifting!
I love those…I’m going to have to borrow that idea. I can never pass up a great container and would love to transform them! Liz
