Our First Harvest

April28

In a 2-gallon pot near our front door, we grew salad greens.  The seed packet was $1.89.

We used Botanical Interests seeds.

This picture was taken a few days after we planted the seeds in March.

I picked only about  1/4 of the greens this past weekend and this is what I got.

This was enough for my husband and I to have a large dinner salad.

Fresh salad mix picked at my convenience…it works for me!

Wow, wow! i didn’t realize you could buy a seed mix like that. D’oh! This will save me lots of dough and be so much yummier then the stuff I buy in the bags. Thank you!

JUst a few days? I think this is very exciting for a beginner in planting – seeing sprouts in just a few days :-) I would love to try tomato and pepper (smallest ones) in the future. Nice to grow something to eat :-)

I’m sure you enjoyed the salad – it has that added “special” trait to it since you grew them.

I am new to your blog… visiting from WFMW… I love your unique blog design! Sometimes it seems that everyone is using the same fonts and colors… yours is a refreshing change.

This is how I am planting my lettuce this year. I’ve got 3 large pots to put on my patio. I think it will also be pleasing to the eye. Not to mention easier to get to then going out to the garden.

    Have a great day.
