Frugal Things I Did Last Week
I have to admit, the past week hasn’t been the most thrifty. We had frozen yogurt at Menchie’s, a date night and made some Amazon purchases. We’re very moderate usually, so I know we will balance out these actions with acts of frugality.
We ate from the garden.
We enjoyed iced coffee using leftover coffee.
I purchased bread at the bakery outlet (including $0.99/16 pitas).
We are battling garden pests such as aphids and squash bugs and I researched and made a water/soap/peppermint oil mix that helped kill off lots of the bugs. We had everything we needed to make the mixture.
We’ve been experimenting with making flavored waters using frozen strawberries, limes and mint from the garden.
Using our Amazon Prime membership benefits, we accessed free movies and shows.
I downloaded and read free books through the city library and Amazon.
I purchased 25 pounds of rice for $8 and packaged it into small bags for ease of use.
I made beans in the crockpot. We ate them for a couple of days, then froze the rest for later use.
We went to a birthday party and contributed $10 towards a much nicer gift for the birthday boy. Not only did I save some money on buying our own gift, I saved time, since another friend organized this group gift.
I gave myself a pedicure.
I made a detangling spray for the girls’ hair using warm water, a tiny bit of conditioner and lavender oil.
I also made homemade Febreeze with a couple of teaspoons of fabric softener and warm water. It really does smell good and freshens our doggy-smelling carpets.
What were your frugal accomplishments this past week?
