Another Pizza Invention

We hit the growers market this weekend and picked up some beautiful chard.  As a cook, I am not so familiar with chard, so I looked up some recipes for ideas.  I found a recipe for chard pizza and I adapted it with ingredients we had.

This pizza had chard, caramelized onions, mozzarella cheese, some crumbled turkey bacon from breakfast and a few shakes of parmesan cheese.  Mr. Petrie cooked it on the grill for about 10 minutes on low heat.

Miss Petrie ate it.

Miss PD ate it after she picked out the chard.

We went to the spray park yesterday and I took a few leftover pieces.  Two of my friends had a piece and they really liked it and they were impressed by my crazy creation. :)

Quick cost breakdown:

  • pizza crust: $1.50
  • chard: $1.50
  • carmelized onions (stick of butter and 1 onion): $1.25
  • cheese: $0.50
  • turkey bacon: $0 (accounted for price in a previous meal)
  • Total: $4.75 or $1.19 per serving

Have a tasty day.
