Casa Petrie

We’ve accomplished most of what was on The BIG Getting Ready for Baby List, so I thought I’d revise what we need to do as we wait for Baby Deux.

The New and Revised BIG Getting Ready for Baby List

• Organize hall bathroom cabinet
• Organize gift closet
• Take more stuff to Goodwill and the dump
• Dust daily (as the house gets dusty due to three dogs, one kid, no carpet, and lots of New Mexico dirt)
• Bag leaves in the yard
• Make a list of things to pack for the hospital (I can’t pack the bag yet because we need lots of the things that would get packed.)
• Get some more basics at the grocery store, keep the basics updated (milk, coffee, etc.)
• Clean the oven
  

Our MLK weekend was very productive.  Our floors are looking wonderful and I did some deep cleaning in the hallway bathroom and the kitchen.  Mr. Petrie is also working on cataloging all of our media in one place.  I have the hope that when this is done we can get rid of cable tv and work off of the media system Mr. Petrie is creating.

I also need to create an area in the fridge that Miss Petrie can access that has healthy food and drinks ready to eat.  I might need to do a little prep every day (like cutting up fruit), but I think this will probably help me when I’m not able to move about as easily as usual.

I think this next idea is inspired, but you might think it’s cheap or even, gasp, mean! Since Miss Petrie’s birthday is in December and she also gets lots of Christmas gifts, I let her pick a few gifts she’s really curious about and I put everything else away for a metaphorical rainy day.  I’ve pulled out a few gifts for her while we’ve done some substantial work on our house so she can enjoy the novelty of playing with something new.  What I’ve found is that she enjoys these toys a little more because there aren’t ten other toys competing for her attention.  We held the crafty toys aside more heavily so she could do some quieter things when Baby Deux is sleeping 20 hours a day.

Accomplishing items on my list makes me so happy!  I’m such an organizing fool.  Now, if I could just get my garage under control…

A girl can dream, right?
