Spring Organizing: Home Library

We have a small room off of our master bedroom that we call “the library”.  We have an extensive collection of books and since we seem to add to the collection several times a month, this room can degenerate into piles of books and magazines.  After I reorganized my gift cabinet, which is housed in this room, I decided to clean up the bookshelves, add a basket for sewing crafts, and re-hang some pictures and add a couple more.  I also ended up cleaning the shelves quite thoroughly after moving the piles.

This room did not have an electricity box to install a light fixture, so we hung the pendant lights and plugged them into a socket.

I found this adorable cabinet at Savers for $4. It houses two small pictures of the Petries and a painted bird.

I took Miss Petrie’s laundry hamper and gave her a cute pink one I found at Thrift Town for $0.99.  I placed this basket above the bookshelves for added storage.  I actually have one basket that is empty, but I am sure I will find a use for it soon.  I also have a dream that we will make the big, built-in shelving/cabinet area into a desk and crafting area.  We’ll see… Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the tour.

Wow!! You have been mighty busy–what great pictures and verbiage. Your party gifts are so creative and pretty. I saw that your Mother helped you too! I really enjoy reading your blog and then looking at the pictures. Of course I thoroughly enjoyed the pictures and descriptions of your decorations and rooms. I did not realize you had so much art work and sculptures. All look beautiful.
Congratulations to Mr. P and his homebrewing article and we’ll see how the product comes out. I’m sure it is going to be tasty. Please do keep us posted.
You both have done alot to decorate your home and it has changed tremendously since I saw it about 3 years ago or so. Hopefully I will get a first hand look some time soon.
    Love to all of you!
