Our Living Room- Before and After

When we moved into Casa Petrie 3 1/2 years ago, the living room had a very outdated fan, tanish-olive colored walls, and beige carpet.

We’ve since painted the walls in chocolate and latte, installed wood flooring, changed the fan for a more contemporary one, and switched out the blinds for a roman shade and panels.  We also put up meaningful art, installed bookshelves, and organized.  Check out this post to learn more about the bookshelves and this post to learn more about the credenza.

We have used a chocolate, latte, and light blue throughout the house to give our cozy home cohesiveness.  The entire house also has the same wood flooring.  I think it really does help give the house better flow.

Thanks to The Lettered Cottage for hosting this room re-do blog party.  Have a great time reading all the other transformational posts!

You really are true to your style choice all the way through. I admire that. I always said I needed more than one house so I could decorate in all the different styles I like. No money for that however so I will live vicariously through the great designs I see online.

Hi, what a beautiful living room! I am in the middle or painting our living room and hall. I have the same color ideas (two walls chocolate and two walls and the hallway a creamy color and accents (pillows, vases, etc.) of a light blue). I bought what I thought was a tan creamy color and it looked lavender on the walls. I freaked. Not at all what the paint chip looked like. Thank goodness I started in the hallway. I went back to the store and had more tint added to the paint. Now I have a mocha color. This is okay for the hall but not the living room. If you wouldn’t mind sharing, what brand and colors did you use for your living room? Also for the dark chocolate, did you use a tinted primer? Guess, I’m curious as to how many coats of paint it took. Also, what finish did you use: flat, eggshell, satin?
