Garden Fresh Quiche

Throw eggs, veggies, cheese and meat into a shell and you have a delicious quiche!  This quiche included ham, cheddar, summer squash, tomatoes and onion.  Everyone ate it up. I made two quiches and froze one.  I’ve been making lots of double recipes lately to use our garden bounty responsibly.  I also start school next [...]

A Handful of Snow Peas

That’s about the extent of the snow pea harvest.  They were tasty.  It’s been too hot here this summer for them to really get started. It’s still wonderful to grow food from seed. Have a happy day.

Sweet Bouquet

Miss Petrie Deux and I were at the grocery store on Friday and the floral area employee gave us a bouquet of flowers.  Isn’t that sweet?  She is always so generous with the girls, giving them balloons almost every time we hit Albertsons. Have a sweet day.

Banana Chocolate Chip Bars and Gift Stationery

Yesterday we used brown bananas for banana chocolate chip bars, which tasted like flattened banana bread.  We added shredded coconut to the top of the bars. As you can see, we didn’t like them. A few months ago I made a gift of stationery for a lovely family friend.  I wanted the stationery to look [...]

46 Tomatoes, Basil and One Lemon Cucumber

This was my biggest tomato haul, ever! Enjoy your fruits and veggies today. Thanks to An Oregon Cottage for hosting this Tuesday Garden Party.

Miss Petrie Starts Kindergarten

My big girl is starting school.  I just can’t believe it. She was so tiny on her first day of preschool, two years ago in 2009: Last year, in 2010, she had a cold on her first day, but she was too excited to miss the first day of school: And here’s my big girl [...]

Shots, Shoes and Ice Cream

Last week I took the girls for vaccinations.  Miss Petrie needed them before school started.  They did really well!  Miss PD only cried for a few seconds and Miss Petrie cringed, but didn’t cry. Miss Petrie bought these snazzy Sketchers with her allowance money.  She has wanted them for months.  She’ll appreciate them more because [...]

DIY Bottled Water

We have many re-useable water bottles and I found they were dusty when we needed to take a bottle of water somewhere.  I started to fill them with water and put them in the fridge.  The water is cold and my girls can grab them easily.  It’s a good way for everyone to have access [...]

3 Girls

Me and the girls enjoying a hot summer day in August.  I’ve been taking tons of pictures and need to write lots of blog posts. Have a great day.
