Migraines and Cupcakes

It’s day 3 of a low-grade migraine.  Yuck!  Reading and being on the computer is really no fun when your head hurts. Anyway, on to more fun subjects…I made carrot cupcakes with cream cheese frosting last time I hosted playgroup.  I made a hole in the center of the cupcake for a little bit of [...]

Board Game Night

Mr. Petrie and I love to play board games.  Last weekend when we were cut off from the world, we dug out a new favorite, Power Grid.  Playing Power Grid was a fun, exciting way to spend a couple of hours after the kids went to bed. We’ve also enjoyed Puerto Rico, Ticket to Ride [...]

We’re Back Online

We finally got back online last night.  We upgraded our internet and needed a new modem/router.  We also canceled our cable.  Then our phone died.  I was feeling very cut off from the world! But sometimes being cut off can be a good thing.  We read lots of books, made some fabulous meals, went to [...]

A Brief Interruption

Hello Casa Petrie fans. We’re having a slight technical problem with the home network right now (UPS didn’t deliver the new modem for our DSL upgrade which has left us without internet for nearly a week). Because of this Mrs. Petrie is having a hard time finding time to get to Starbucks for their wifi [...]

A New Look

It was time for a new look.  For Casa Petrie and for me! Change is good for my soul, but I’ll settle for a little change with bangs and layered hair. A million thanks to Mr. Petrie for letting me pick a blog style I liked then customizing the heck out of it.  You are [...]

Tree Removal by Mr. Petrie

One of the items on my honey do list is removal of some very overgrown trees/bushes that cover our front door.  Mr. Petrie chopped down the majority of the tree that eclipses our front door. We plan to put a front yard appropriate herb garden where the bushes currently are. Have a great day.

Gift Bag Re-Purposing

Every frugal person has an area of frugality that sort of veers into cheapness.  Mine is gift wrapping.  I save every gift bag, unwrinkled tissue paper, and ribbon.  I’ve even been known to keep cards and re-make them into post cards or gift decorations.  I think I learned some of these habits from all the [...]

Eating Like Kings

The garden is in full production mode.  We’re able to harvest every couple of days.  Fresh produce goes bad so fast that we’re trying to eat and preserve our food in different ways. Tonight I made stirfry and added the bush beans and pole beans to the veggie mix.  I was finding it difficult to [...]

Miss Petrie Deux’s 7 Month Pictures

Where have these seven months gone??  Miss Petrie Deux can use her body for locomotion now!  Miss PD rolls around to get to objects or people and pivots while sitting up. She eats blended veggies and drinks water from a sippy cup.  She weighs over 17 pounds. She slaps her hands when she’s happy.  She [...]

Big Sis/Baby Sis Outfits

Miss Petrie loves to dress up.  I’m grateful to have a child who likes to look nice and enjoys my fussing over her.  And since the baby was born, Miss Petrie is crazy about matching with her sister whenever she can. Miss Petrie was sick on her first day of school, but she looked sharp [...]
