Summer Dinner

I love a caprese salad (or my version) in the summer.  It consists of romaine, tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella.  I used mozzarella pearls in this salad, which I had never used before.  I served the salad with garlic bread and sangria. At Casa Petrie, we have been wanting to make yogurt, mozzarella and ice cream.  [...]

Sunday Morning Scones

We’ve never made scones before, but this morning we thought we’d try.  They were easy to make and delicious! Blueberries are inexpensive right now, so we have an abundance of them in the house.  The berries made the scones taste extraordinary. How’s your weekend going?

Do you {Woot!}?

I was thinking about this awesome little piece of equipment we have in our living room: It’s a speaker system for the IPod.  You can plug it in or use batteries and move it around.  The sound quality is good and if I remember correctly, I think it was something like $30. Mr. Petrie loves [...]

Miss Petrie, Clowns, and Dr. Crusher

I love this outfit my mom sent to Miss Petrie for her summer preschool program. After school, we went to a party for our little friend Lily.  Her mom hired a clown.  The clown was an incredible face painter! I once knew a man who dated Gates McFadden, who played Dr. Beverly Crusher on Star [...]

“Pesto Pesto”

I put small [...]

Mango Lassis

We’re big fans of smoothies at Casa Petrie.  I’ve been making mango lassis lately.  I made up my own recipe and it tastes pretty close to restaurant quality. A Casa Petrie Mango Lassi 2 cups plain yogurt the fruit of 3 fresh mangoes a dash of cardamom 1 cup of ice 1 cup powdered sugar [...]

Miss Petrie Deux’s 4 Month Pictures

She’s 1/3 of a year old now.  I can’t believe how quickly these first four months have flown by.  Miss Petrie Deux makes all kinds of conversational noises, laughs at things she finds funny (like when I let her “ride” our dog, Rufus), and she stays on her tummy with her head up for several [...]

May 2010 in Review

Whoa!  We had a busy month at Casa Petrie. But what we spent the most time on was our backyard.  Here’s a peek at our tomato box. Have a productive day.
