I was thinking about this awesome little piece of equipment we have in our living room:

It’s a speaker system for the IPod. You can plug it in or use batteries and move it around. The sound quality is good and if I remember correctly, I think it was something like $30.
Mr. Petrie loves Woot! and checks it daily for incredible deals. We have had really good luck with their electronics. There’s also Woot! sites for kids stuff, wine, and crazy t-shirts. The shipping is usually around $5, so you don’t feel scammed on the postage, as often happens with cheap stuff online.
We’re keeping an eye out for a well-rated digital camera to come up on Woot!.
I hope you’re having a good week.

I wanted a cute egg wreath last year but I didn’t want to pay much for it nor did I want to spend hours making one. When I saw this wreath at Thrift Town (love that place) I knew I could fix it up for the 2010 season.

At $2.99 I could forgive the place where the shell had broken off the egg.

Since I had Miss Petrie Deux strapped to my chest in the Ergo carrier, I really couldn’t do any crafting that involved burning hot glue or paint. I thought that perhaps I had something adhesive that could cover up the broken egg…

The green of the sticker matched the egg incredibly well. I made a few cuts around the sticker and adhered it to the egg. Then I added a sticker “P” to personalize the wreath.

I think this turned out pretty darn cute.

Now, what to do about that hideous black “iron” work on the screen door…

I was looking for a new profile picture for my Facebook account and I saw this hilarious pic:

I wish I had seen this a few months ago. I would have bought the button. This would be a great gift for a crafty friend.
I hope you’re having a good week.

So, still no baby. I’m starting to think she’s enjoying the womb a little too much. I’ve been so judicious about shopping the past few months, but now I’ve got the shopping bug.
Today at Target I found Miss Petrie a down comforter for her twin bed reduced from $60 to $15. Can you believe that?? I have been looking for one for months, so this is really exciting. I didn’t find a duvet cover that was the right style or price, but I can find one if I keep my eyes peeled.

I also bought some comfy clothes I can wear after Baby Deux is born. Old Navy had an additional 50% off of their clearance items, so I was able to buy a bunch of cute shirts for dirt cheap (under $4 each).
I got a white and dark pink tank like this:

The green shirt I bought is similar to this style, but actually has pretty flower embellishments on the front.

The henley shirt I bought is a coral/orange mixture.

My tank is similar to this, but in navy blue.

I also went to Lane Bryant. I love those clothes! They are well made and fun and fit my proportions well. All of their sale stuff was under $13. They don’t have any of the cute shirts I purchased on their website, so I’ll have to take pictures and post those cute things for you later.
Have a great weekend!

Last week’s Sunday paper had a tall bookshelf in espresso for $26 (at Target)! You may remember I’ve been looking for shelves. Well, I picked up two shelves for Miss Petrie’s room. The shelves are now back up to $32, but I still think that’s a deal. We haven’t even got them out of the car, but I’ll take pictures when we set them up. I’m looking forward to having more storage space in Miss Petrie’s room.

Miss Petrie is going to attend preschool a couple of days a week this fall and she needed some school supplies. We emptied out her piggy bank and used her money to buy her supplies at her favorite store, Target. We were able to get everything and she had money left over for a toy, t-shirt, and a notebook. I was very proud of her for using her own money for useful stuff. Anyway, Target had great deals! If you stockpile gifts like I do, consider checking out Target in the next few days.

Thanks to Hooked on Houses for hosting Hooked on Fridays and Fifi Flowers for hosting Fashionable Fridays.
After our great time at the horse ranch, I’ve had horse-inspired objects on the brain. Join me for some window shopping…
From modern designer Jonathan Adler:

Gorgeous Ralph Lauren accessories:

I love these primitive horse art paintings. They are very reasonably priced (click the picture to check out the artist’s site).

Wouldn’t this horse look great above a cabinet or sitting on top of an armoire?

Cowgirl boots can be expensive, but they are so comfortable. I think they can also add a lot of style to a boring outfit of jeans and a t-shirt.

Have a great Friday!

We were at Dollar Tree this week because I wanted to check out their paper crafting supplies. I hit the jackpot! Their stamps were awesome and I had to hold myself back from getting more. They also had these adorable small envelopes in different colors.

The stamps are a good size. I plan on using either the monkey or the lion for a shower invitation for a friend that is having a boy in October.

We also picked up a few baby doll outfits for “Fake Emily”, Miss Petrie’s baby. A very successful trip.
Have an interesting Thursday!

I’ve been thinking about some pieces I’d like to add to my closet.
I like this t-shirt and I could use a jean skirt. They are so versatile.
I’ve always loved a cute striped shirt. White pants and gold accesories would compliment my very tan skin!

In the next few weeks, I’m going to keep my eyes open for:
- a jean skirt,
- a few new tank tops,
- a cute striped t-shirt,
- a couple of pairs of flip-flops, and
- white drawstring pants.
Since New Mexico stays quite warm through mid-October, I’ll get great use out of all these clothes. In fact, I’ll probably wear them until they tear, get stained, and are irreparably stretched out. Any must-haves in your wardrobe this summer?
