Casa Petrie

An Spring Update to Our Photo Mosaic Wall

March27

I still had Miss Petrie’s Christmas photo up and it’s March, for goodness sake!  I know some people keep holiday photos up all year, but I think it looks awkward when the cold weather has passed.  I had some pictures of Miss Petrie Deux printed and added them to the wall as well.

The dried flowers are from Miss Petrie Deux’s welcome bouquets.  We dried more flowers, but I’m not sure what I’m going to do with them.  Miss Petrie helped with this project and she was excited that we put flowers inside of heavy books (in wax paper so as not to ruin the books).

Have a super day!

From Empty Wall to Photo Mosaic

September13

Thanks to Between Naps On The Porch for hosting Metamorphosis Monday.

We have a narrow wall in our dining/kitchen/living room area and I had yet to decorate it.  I really wanted to wait until I had something interesting and personal to put up on this wall.

I collected pictures from around the house.  Most were in black or dark frames with white mats, but I threw in a couple of pictures without mats.  The largest frame may have to go black, but I haven’t made up my mind yet.

I’ve been looking at my photo wall all weekend and I still like it!  It actually makes the dining area feel more like it’s own room with that extra bit of decoration.

Have a great week, friends.

My Parent’s House: The Dining Room

August13

Thanks to Hooked on Houses for hosting Hooked on Fridays.

My parent’s home is made for entertaining.  The dining room is a large room and a beautiful focal point from the living room.  It is flanked by the living room, sun room, breakfast room, kitchen and a hallway.  You can imagine the door situation was a little out of control.  My parents had one door removed during the renovation and the room is now more spacious looking.

The door that was removed was to the left of the china hutch.

When I was a young child the chandelier that was original to the home was crystal. It was really beautiful, but was badly damaged by a house fire. The next chandelier was brass. I like the new Tuscan-inspired chandelier.

Next time I visit, I plan on helping my mom recover the dining room chairs.  We wanted to do it this time, but got a little distracted with visiting.

Have a wonderful weekend!
